Monthly Review: April 2017

As was previously forecast, April was always going to experience a sharp decline in the three-month-moving average since January’s stellar contribution would be removed from the calculation.

Monthly Reflection & Content Forecast

April began super busy and given Easter was held mid-month, it was only after Easter that I could return to ensuring content updates were made available.

Although Easter came first, the fact that my post was delayed is partly a reflection of my busy-ness, as well as the priority I gave to other content. That priority has been on a broad topic of discipleship, which has multiple aspects to focus on: the Timothy Discipleship Group, discovery bible studies, and MyFriends, which is still being unpacked here on XBOP. The three topics have all interwoven for the last 5-6 months, and the initial focus was on the Four Column study homework. As this unfolded and matured, so too did the XBOP grouping and content structuring for the entire works.

Various social outings were held in early April, leading up to Easter. The Good Friday Appeal received its annual treatment and analysis. This year, there was a greater emphasis on simplicity in terms of the church approach to Easter celebrations, particularly Good Friday itself. Easter Sunday was a regular double celebration, with baptisms and the Easter choir. Relaxing over the extended long weekend was a good balance given the general demands of the season.

Taking the Monday 24 April off as annual leave helped to provide me with a second extended long weekend. Since some people were working that day, I turned it into a day of volunteering at church, where I used the time to help the church staff with their IT needs. Since February, I have squeezed into my schedule the odd hour or two, outside of work, where I help out with all things IT related at church. This first began with the project on email migration to Gmail. Since then, the latest and current (as of the time of writing) project is to learn and support the telephone system.

Apologies for the slow release with this update. Nowadays I find that I do write up material fairly quickly but then get to a point where I am invariably distracted and then forget to complete and publish straightaway. You could say that this is a bad habit, so I do apologize for the lack of timeliness behind these updates.
