Healing, Visions and Prayer

prayer

I have just returned home from an evening of prayer at Clayton Church’s monthly Prayer Hub session. The events of tonight are not in isolation, but reflect how the Lord has manifested Himself in and through me to others.

The last weekend saw the church host our annual Missions Focus event. Noddy Sharma, as the guest speaker spoke three clear messages on Sent in Love, Sent in Grace, Sent in Freedom. One of the key take-away messages for me from the Friday night message on love was that we first need to humble ourselves before God – we have no right to request let alone demand anything through prayer. As Noddy shared about his own conviction and being humbled before God – I too went through a similar experience afterwards (on Saturday) where God convicted me of my pride and tore me down. Whilst it may not be an obvious character trait, it nonetheless was a sin on my part which I needed cleansing of. Listening to the second message (from home via Livestream) on grace helped to facilitate me through a quiet time with God where He slowly restored me and further purified my heart. This enabled me to then serve on Sunday morning and return after 2-3 weeks absence from singing and worshipping God with 100% health – it took 3 weeks to completely shake off that cough.

Last night, amongst fellow Surge cell leaders, during worship and prayer, I received a vision of an eye. I shared it with both those present at the time as well as my immediate cell group (the power of WhatsApp…) At the time I shared the message as follows:

I was praying and had a vision of the Eye of the Lord. This giant eye not blinking and focused. The vision led me inside the eye and there were ? black feathery objects. Not sure what it meant or who it was for…

Now on reflection (hindsight is always helpful like that), there were also silhouettes in the darkness, not completely discernible. The analogy of Lord of the Rings / Eye of Sauron was brought up, but it was not like that. At the time, no one came forth to claim it for themselves, so I went away and continued to pray on it. I will return to this vision later in this article/story.

Tonight, I felt God drawing me to church, to join in the corporate monthly prayer session that we call Prayer Hub. The format/structure of the evening consists of a corporate worship time with some form of sharing/testimony opportunity whilst we are all gathered together in the chapel. The remainder of the evening is where we break off into the six prayer stations that are scattered around the church building:

  1. Creative worship/prayer
  2. Intercession and healing
  3. Community outreach
  4. Reflection (listening to God)
  5. Mission & global prayer needs
  6. Chinese service

In the past, I have joined creative worship/prayer and the community outreach stations over the 3-4 times I have attended this year. For a change, I joined the intercession and healing station. When we were asked if people were attending to seek healing personally or for/on behalf of others, I decided I would request prayer for this ache which felt a little like a sprained left wrist. Three women prayed over my wrist twice, the first time having limited effect whereas immediately after the second round last prayer there was a miraculous healing touch from God! Almost immediately after “Amen” was said, I felt the general ache/pain just left the area and it felt completely normal. So, I can now testify to having been directly touched and healed by the grace of God!

However, this story is not quite yet over. One of the women who we prayed over then shared that she had been suffering of late from blurry vision and problematic hearing. For me, on immediately hearing the mention of “vision”, I sought the Lord for further clarification on the vision He had provided to me the night before. This time, God unveiled more to me – revealing the original black feathers to be representative of the splint in our eyes. This vision thus served a dual purpose and audience – both for this woman and for myself. I was reminded of Jesus words in Matthew 7:1-5.

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

This word and symbolism was there to remind and  reinforce the message of humility that I was to exhibit before the feet of the Lord. It reminded me that we are to be like Jesus in not condemning the world, but proclaim the Good News of His salvation and love for us all.

Recalling now the vision that I prayed over her, it went something like this:

Lord, I pray this vision you gave me last night over [name] right now. I saw this large eye right before me, not blinking -just open. As I journeyed in, there was this darkness and cloudiness which had filled it inside. In the midst of that darkness, the Lord impressed upon me that He was going to cleanse and restore it. Starting as a pin-prick of light, it grew steadily as the darkness coalesced like it was being drawn out and sucked out of the eye. As this was happening over a short matter of seconds, the silhouettes were illuminated and were shown now in the fullness of light to be doorways. The message from the Lord was that, in cleansing and restoring you, He wanted to fill every room within your being. In this way, like John 14 where the Father’s house has many rooms, and Jesus is preparing a place, so too is God preparing to fill You with His Spirit. I pray that you would open your heart to receiving Him as He heals you of the vision and hearing loss.

I was able to follow-up shortly after to see if this vision made any sense, and the initial feedback I received was cautious but positive. John 14:2-3 is provided as follows, to help provide a bit more context:

My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

I pray that these testimonies and sharing has not only allowed God to work through and for the people I have been in contact with tonight, sharing directly in the healing and blessing, but also will encourage you my readers, who can also share in this experience online. In all these ways, I pray that God is glorified and that His Kingdom may come, here on earth as it is in heaven.
